MJ teaches nearly all styles of yoga throughout Orange County and has been practising for more than 25 years. With a mix of her Australian accent, her calming voice, her articulate wording and guidance and her different/interesting classes and transitions, you are sure to get an amazing mind and body experience.

My full name is Michaela Jane Travers but people call me MJ and I’m from Melbourne, Australia. Having worked in many different fields including Genetics, Music Management, Tour Management and as a Personal Assistant, my heart now lies in the amazing field of Yoga and Health. The practice of yoga through breathing and moving meditation has brought not only an increased flexibility but more stability to my body and more importantly my mind. Through my practice I have achieved an overall calm and balanced demeanor allowing me to tackle the ever increasing pressures and stresses that every day life throws our way. I have been practicing for over 20 years and I am fortunate enough to share the benefits I have received on this journey through teaching many different styles of yoga including Power Vinyasa Flow (heated and unheated), Restorative and Yin Yoga, Hot Power Fusion (HPF) and meditation, including sound meditation. When Im not practicing yoga or mediating I love riding motorcycles and going on adventures from camping, hiking, swimming, surfing and more! The contrast from the calming effects of yoga and meditation to the fast and loud fun of motorcycles and metal music help me to find balance in doing the things I love and leading the life I now have.

I started doing yoga in the 90’s as it was a widely accepted form of exercise/meditation/relaxation. My local studio was at the beach near my home in Australia and I would take classes with the pro surfers and other locals. I found a deep connection to how I felt during and after classes and began to notice the amazing benefits of moving through pranayama and asana. I love the connection between my mind, body, and breath and have recently discovered another form of relaxation and meditation through ASMR, Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. 


My goal is to bring peace and calm to those who desire that balance in their life through these modalities and more. So what are you waiting for….lets get Zen!!!

What is your favourite guilty pleasure food?

Caramel….I abbbbbsolultely loooove caramel. Home made caramel, sticky, gooey….YUMMMM!!!

In one sentence describe your perfect day?

Wake feeling refreshed and energetic to a warm sunny day so I can ride everywhere on my motorbike, take a yoga class from one of my fave teachers, go for a swim in the ocean, have a brunch date with friends, do a workout to feel stronger or maybe a massage, teach a great class, a Vinyasa or a Restorative and then dinner with friends before watching the sunset and seeing a movie at a cinema with the seats that fully recline!! And maybe some caramel and/or a Nitro Cold Brew with heeeappps of sweet cream!! :wink:

What is your favourite movie quote?

Santa….I know him!!!!! (Or - sneaky....very, very sneaky!)

If you could bring one item to a deserted island what would it be?

Never ending music with headphones.

What is your favourite sound?

Listening to the ocean through an open window whilst lying in bed.
